You know, as much as the liberals like to quote Thomas Jefferson on separation of church and state issues, you’d think they’d pay attention to other things he said.
“We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.”
–Thomas Jefferson, letter to Samuel Kercheval, 1816
The worst thing about the debt in the “stimulus package” that is being considered by the Senate is it will not only be perpetual; chances are it will be permanent. I fear our descendents will not build monuments to our generation but will destroy the evidence we walked this earth and spit and curse whenever they recall our names. The ancient Egyptians received such treatment; their memorials were descecrated and their faces chipped away in the public histories painted on the walls of their temples. I pray that we walk away from this crisis without creating a larger, more sinister one for our children.
